Facebook have recently made it much easier for companies to bring their customers to their fan page.
A new feature “Tell Your Fans” allows you to send email invites to client lists you have built up elsewhere. Facebook are offering this to new or smaller pages to help them to foster a Facebook community around their business.
Email lists, which can be uploaded from a contact file or imported from web email contacts, are verified against current fans and admins can uncheck those they do not wish to invite. Customers without a Facebook account are invited to join, by the page.
A significant barrier for many, building their initial fan base, has now been removed. This development should make social media more readily accessible to those thinking about making their first moves.
