For both Facebook and Twitter, success requires high engagement and effective customer service. High engagement maximises your distribution and follower growth far more than your basic fan count; as in email marketing, it's not how many people you send to, but how many people actually open and respond. But all that engagement is pointless if you're ignoring valid complaints and questions from your customers; the effect of bad customer service is magnified on social platforms by their public nature.

 

When we began working on Conversocial, most other social media management tools were focused on Twitter; and if they did do Facebook, it was a pretty lacklustre implementation. A big part of this was due to a lack of focus on the power of conversation in Facebook; however it was also due to the technical complications of the Facebook platform, which dwarfed the relative simplicity of Twitter. We had years of in-depth Facebook experience, so we decided to start with a pure Facebook focus; it was something no one else was doing really well, and built on our expertise and knowledge. Building a reliable system that works with Facebook's APIs (which can often be unreliable) was a big challenge, especially scaling it up to the large numbers we deal with (some of our customers process hundreds of thousands of incoming comments every month), but one that we're immensely proud of.

Our vision is to be the enterprise management tool for all social properties, and as such we always planned to provide support for Twitter within Conversocial, and it has been a common request from our customers. Well, the time is here! For the last couple of weeks, some of our customers have been trialling the Conversocial Twitter integration in Beta. We've had lots of great feedback, and are now making some of the final tweaks before we do a full roll out to all Conversocial accounts, which will take place over the next two weeks.

In terms of managing conversations, tracking engagement, and team workflow, Twitter needs exactly the same kind of help that we provide for Facebook. You now have our full functionality to deal with your incoming @replies, @mentions and DMs on Twitter as well as scheduled updates and engagement tracking, accessible right next to your Facebook accounts.
