Meet George!

Meet George, the original member of our Sales Team.

George! You've been with Conversocial from almost the beginning - explain your role to us and how has this changed over the past year or so?

Yep, I started at Conversocial in May 2011 as the lone sales guy. Now, a year and a few months later, I am still here and loving it just as much! I work with UK and European retail companies, primarily to help them see the value of 'Social Customer Service' as well as understand what Conversocial offers and can deliver them in this area. I love the fact I get to speak with decision makers at some of Europe's largest companies. There have been three main changes over the last year for me; firstly the role of Social Customer Service has become a firmly established, so I can discuss it as an actual tangible and necessary part of any business who wants to be taken seriously by their customers. The second change has been the types of customers and responsibility I have personally – I am going in and speaking with the heads of PR, marketing and Customer Service on a subject I am passionate about, and can provide genuine benefit for them. Finally, the office! We have gone from a shared office in Beak Street (with the lovely people at iPlatform) to over four times the size, and a friendly and vibrant community to work in!

Favorite part of the working day?

My favourite part of the day comes in the morning after I've cleared out the email inbox and had breakfast. I get chance to chat some of my contacts, see how they are getting on and find out what challenges they are facing while starting out on the tool – all before having lunch with the whole company!

Are you a bigger Twitter or Facebook user?

Generally, I spend more time on Facebook than Twitter, but I think Twitter is the best way to stay up to date on what's going on in the industry and keep in touch with clients.

Where would we find you on a Saturday night?

Always with some good mates. If I’m not keeping it local in Brixton, I’m mainly to be found in a variety of bars and clubs in Soho or Dalston, or on a night bus meeting random people somewhere in between. :-)

What do you find most interesting about the realm of social media?

It’s such a fluid industry; it is driven by the user, so it’s constantly changing and always up to date. I like how this means companies’ mistakes and triumphs are aired on a daily basis, and the user gets a real interaction with their favorite brands, as well as the opportunity to discuss grievances in the public domain.

Lady GaGa - love her or hate her?

I bloody love her. I even joined her social network 'Little Monsters' but am yet to post!
